Missy

Updated: Aug 12

Today marks 4 weeks since having to say goodbye to my beautiful little girl Missy. At 14 & 1/2 yrs old, she had a very active fun filled life, and naturally being a purebred staffie, she put her joints through the most extreme tests you could possibly imagine. She also had to endure 3 operations for cancer removal over the years. She was such a fighter, but this as well as the dementia all took a massive toll on her, leaving her not so well off in her old age & me having to make the dreaded decision.

I called on the 16th June to request the end of life call, Michelle answered and I suddenly lost my breath. I felt so stupid at the time but Michelle was so calm, kind & understanding, she gave me time to be able to compose myself enough to be able to get the words out. I thank you for that moment Michelle, I really appreciated that.

Kate was absolutely amazing with the end of life call as well as the euthanasia on the day. She was very calm, kind & caring with both of us and she took her time in explaining how everything was going to play out from start to finish. I was initially very worried about Missy as she did not like painkillers at all, but with Kate explaining the 2 step process on the end of life call I was put at ease. It turned out that was not an issue as she was lights out on the first go as opposed to her usual panic attacks after being given other painkillers. So that was very settling for me & as strange as it may sound, it was actually very settling for me seeing Missy sleeping so peacefully & comfortably, which neither of us had been able to do for the last few months of her life. After settling I couldn't even cry at the time, all I felt was peace for her, or at least until the gate closed then the flood gates opened.

I would like to thank you all for the part you played in my little girl's life. The respect, care & compassion that we were shown the whole way through the process, I will definitely be highly recommending your services to others in this situation in the future.
